self evaluation

SELF EVALUATION
1. Concept of Project stated: My only goal for a concept in this project was to make something visually interesting and attention-grabbing.

2. Follow through of concept/proposal: I think I did a good job of making my digital art attention-grabbing

3. What are the work’s strong points? I feel like the strongest thing about my digital projects, at least that I see looking back on making them was the attention to detail and the large amount of frames used. I think I chose interesting ideas to put together.

4. What are the work’s weak points? I think that my digital art was pretty basic, due to my lack of knowledge on that type of art.

5. Are you challenging yourself? Yes, I feel like I did challenge myself considering I found the project in general pretty challenging and new to me.

6. Is the work expressive? Personal? About your own experience and idea? I think the one with the two lovers is both expressive and personal, having to do with feelings I have experienced. The one with Homer Simpson is pretty random, and the one with the mannequins and the candy is somewhat of a comment on the struggle for a perfect body image.

7. Is there a degree of originality? I feel that there is in all three animations. Though I used a Simpson’s character in one of them, it was still an original idea to put him in front of The Last Supper painting.

8. Is the idea/concept well resolved? Yeah, I think so, they were mostly for visual interest rather than to convey a dramatic concept or idea.

9. Are you taking the work as far as possible, doing everything you can to communicate your idea? I suppose so, I don’t feel like I left anything out and I got the point of visual interest across.

10. What is the level of technical ability? On a scale of 1-10 maybe a 7, It felt hard for me but I know there are people who understand the process better who kicked my ass at the project.

11. Are you working hard to overcome the inevitable problems and difficulties? I don’t feel that there was much to overcome in this project, just a lot of trial and error that I came through pretty well.

12. Are you trying alternative approaches to achieve your goals? Yes, this project in itself was alternative for me, and I did achieve what I set out to.

13. Do your decisions advance and improve the work? (or do they just make the work easier and faster to do?) I feel like I found a method to making digital art that became comfortable for me and became faster and easier along the way, but that is the way it works for learning any new process it seems. I advanced my knowledge of how to create digital art immensely so I think my decisions advanced my work for sure.
